Less than 10min walk from the wakayama station (all flat roads, no hills). The onsen was great and you also get some random freebies (free coffee in the afternoon, free popsicles, free ramen at night, etc.). Room is not big but that's normal for Japanese hotels, we did not spend a whole lot of time inside the room so it didn't matter too much anyways. Would recommend this place.

We really didn’t regret our decision at all to spend a night in the peaceful coastal town of Kushimoto with this hotel. We booked a room overlooking the majestic Hashiguiwa rocks and enjoyed the sunrise through the window in the early morning. Warm hospitality by the reception crew. Amazing service. Comfortable lobby. Bedroom has a modern and stylish look. They also separate the toilet space and bathing room which is nice.

Hongu is the town right in the middle of the peninsula of Wakayama that sits in the center of many of the Kumano Kodo hikes. Beautiful all around with tons of great trails and hikes to do and sights to see, especially Nachi Falls. Tips for those wanting to travel in Hongu: -Have tons of 100,1000 yen currency. In order to get around the Hongu area requires intermitten buses that can get expensive. Be prepared to spend up to 1250 JPY for each leg of the bus. Plan your trip as there as well, as there are big gaps in the bus times (especially around noon).

Beautiful modern hotel. Room and beds were huge (by Japanese standards). Great river and mountain view from my room and from the hotel lobby where we have our breakfast. Breakfast cost Y2200 per person - it was a little expensive for a standard Japanese breakfast spread - but we paid for the view, ambiance and service. Coffee and coco drink was good :) Extremely accessible as it is 1 min from wakayamashi train station, bus interchange, Starbucks and 7-Eleven.
