I have never had brand loyalty to any chain until I stayed in this Dormy Inn. The breakfast was AMAZING and so very worth the extra as there’s so much variety to sample traditional Japanese breakfast. And the free late night ramen is so yummy too.

Located in Goshogawara, 27 km from Sannai-Maruyama site, こもる五所川原 provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a bar. + the rice served at dinner time was super yummy and u can ask for refills! + loved the offering of different types of apple juice at check-in and during meals + stayed in room 101 and enjoyed sitting by my own private zen garden (although u look up to a view of the neighbouring house but fortunately didn’t see anyone looking down at me) + very comfortable bed set up by staff after dinner + the bathroom is shared but really big and it was nice soaking in the tub + wifi worked well + staff were friendly + easy drive to Iwakiyama Shrine and Iwaki Skyline (but otherwise there’s nothing much to see/do in the vicinity)

The baths are spacious and comfortable with free frozen treats to relax with afterwards. There are complimentary washing machines, which are really appreciated by travellers with many days on the road. There's late night ramen. Our corner room wasn’t big but it was well arranged. The windows open to let in a little fresh air. The location is in the heart of town right near bus routes. Some of the staff speak English and offered a lot of help.

Aomori Green Park Hotel is set in Aomori, 6.5 km from Sannai-Maruyama site and 42 km from Tsuta Hot Spring. Boasting a 24-hour front desk, this property also provides guests with a restaurant. A basic and cheap stay that is more than worth its price point. The place is about a 25 minute walk to Aomori Station and about a 15 minute walk to most of the relevant spots in Aomori, but everything else was perfect about it. Check-in was easy, the rooms were small, but comfortable. The included breakfast was an incredible buffet that was amongst the best I've had in all of Asia for something that's free and included in the stay. There's a whole cabinet of free amenities including laundry detergent if you needed something for your stay

This place has a lot of character and very comfortable and cozy. The dining area is overall a great place to unwind, watch a little tv. Dinner was wonderful and breakfast was good. There’s an onsen hotel a couple minutes walk from the guesthouse where for 500 yen you can try the indoor and outdoor onsen. This is a backpackers guesthouse and for what it is, I had a great experience

Beautiful hotel right near the lake and downtown. Only short walk to illumination, which was vert fun. Amazing dinner and spectacular onsen. Wonderful in the winter.

The location is on the top of a mountain, so the views were amazing. It’s also quite isolated so once you are there there is not much to do unless you want to play golf or go skiing. You could walk on the golf course if the weather permits. The staff spoke very good English. The dinner was delicious.

We loved this hotel! The staff was so friendly and incredibly helpful from the moment we arrived. We are cycling in Japan and are usually a mess by the time we arrive and they helped us find a place for our bikes and quickly check us in. All the drinks, snack and popsicles were unlimited and a joy. I made an espresso in the AM. Perfect. The dinner was exquisite. One of our favorites with fresh sashimi, and light delicate tempura. All the staff explained each item and local ingredients made it extra special. We ate double gohan beer had a big appetite. Special thanks to all who made us feel welcomed! The 2 crazy cyclists!
