Reception staff is wonderful. However the team running the bars and restaurants are pretty standoffish. They’re more interested in chatting to each other than noticing your third attempt at getting their attention. Location is good and close to walled city, though can seem a bit unsafe at night. Other major hostel chains are in better locations.

Great location, close to the night life but on a quiet side street so the noise did not affect us. The pool area does not seem to be in use and feels more like a storage area - wasn't an issue for us but worth bearing in mind if you're looking for a place with a pool. The room was spacious, comfortable and cool.

The bedroom is very spacious and beautiful - the double bed is huge and very comfortable. The staff was kind and the breakfast was very good, even though it was a prepared dish - very repetitive if you stay there for many days. Good laundry service and lovely construction.

Its character mixes cultures and peoples, including natives, Spanish, African and Arab. Its rich legacy granted its Old Town the recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
When the Spanish founded the city in 1533, the region had already been inhabited for thousands of years. It became an important port for the Spanish gold and a significant political centre. Nice vacation, a lot to see, city is really nice, especially in the evening with animations. But very hot and beaches are not clean, you need to go to beaches far away (by boat). I liked to see free animals (monkeys,...) in the city park Centenario.

Cartegena has so much culture and history.
Cartegena has so much culture and history. The food was fantastic! There is live music in every restaurant and bar. Traditional dancing can be found in the squares and you just need to tip. Just be aware of all the street hustlers, especially the rappers who will follow you. The old town comes alive after 8pm. Be prepared for the 90-100% humidity during the mid-day. It is best to site see early in the morning or evening and siesta or pool lounge during the mid day.

The "Old City" is beautiful and historic - and has excellent gelato! Unfortunately, no Dr Pepper...
The beaches are good, and provide a diversion (or a primary reason to go, if you are young) and a completely different atmosphere.

Lots to do if you work with local tourist agents.
Lots to do if you work with local tourist agents. Leave the area and go to Baru for glowing plankton or boats to Rosario archipelago. Old town. Watch out for street vendors selling trinkets and being too pushy.

We absolutely loved this hotel, during our 3 weeks travelling through Colombia it was by far the best hotel we stayed in.
- the decor is lovely, very Mediterranean
- all of the staff were all so attentive, kind and just couldn’t do enough for you
- they made fresh juice everyday which was a really nice touch
- breakfast is great
- the owner, Louis was so lovely and very helpful. he spent a lot of time advising us and making sure our stay was the best it could possibly be
- the terrace is beautiful, make sure you experience it!
The staff was very welcoming, Carlos, Jennifer, and Brayan made sure that our stay was perfect from the beginning until the very end. The breakfast was AMAZING, and the hotel facilities were a 10 out of 10. The location was ideal as we could safely walk through the old city and come back to the hotel without getting lost. It was also close to some great restaurants. I don't think we could have picked a better hotel.
unbelievable property, we had a room with two floors, and a Japanese toilet! Excellent design and all very recently done. Right in the heart of the old city. Lovely welcome cocktail, and the reception staff and general staff around the hotel extremely polite and very good to us. They even looked after our suitcase for three days whilst we went to another island. Would highly recommend it’s worth the money
Casa Amara was such an amazing stay! Not only is it a great location to be at but it’s also such a pretty nice and authentic Colombian vibe. The shower was beautiful and there was a little kitchen which was convenient. The AC was working really well too. Fernanda was the best host we could’ve ever asked for. She gave us many good recommendations and made sure we were enjoying every bit of Cartagena.
The staff was excellent. Extremely accommodating and professional with their guests best interest in mind. Large windows with great views, particularly on the beach facing side of the hotel. Boil is beautiful, and really loved having direct beach access (not having to cross any streets). Short cab ride from the old city in the evenings (~10 minutes). Will definitely stay here again in the future.
Beautiful no complains. Brand new hotel in the cultura heart of Cartagena and just minutes walking to the famous ciudad amurallada this hotel has it all. Beautiful design well though our rooms with top notch essentials, delicious food. Only downside the room had a bit of a smell maybe is the new construction still going on. But overall everything was amazing will come back for sure
The location is really good, close enough to the sites in Getsemani and the Old City without being on a ridiculously busy street. The beds were comfortable and the maid service cleaned regularly. The included breakfast was convenient. The hotel worked with us to coordinate with day trip companies we booked to pick us up directly from the hotel, which was great.
It’s a beautiful new hotel, what made it even more special are the people who work there, Carlos ( both of them ) Edwin and Jose took really care of us. Breakfast is included and is delicious !! We had an amazing time. SOL de Alba is Very close to everything , is walking distance to amazing restaurants and monuments in Cartagena.

Breakfast was delicious.
The Hotel Bantu is gorgeous with every detail of decor and design expressly considered. The staff members at all levels were exceptional and were helpful, friendly, professional, and accommodating. The location, too, is perfect and is conveniently located in the heart of the old city of Cartagena.
A good hotel like a Hilton needs to be, Big room with comfy beds. Good cleaning of the room. More than a good breakfast for Colombian standards. Friendly staff and clean hotel. Nice bar and restaurants and a really good pool, private beach, and pool bar with a lot of good food on the menu.
Great location at the heart of the old city. The Air Conditioning was essential as it was very hot and humid outside. Although they do not serve breakfast at the hotel, the cafe that provides breakfast provided very nice food.
The hotel is great, small and quiet. Staff is friendly and always around. The breakfast is very good! And more importantly, the location is amazing, best area to stay in Old Cartagena, just off the most beautiful plaza.
Top quality hotel at excellent location (easy walk from the old city, next to the big fortres). Very nice rooms with balcony. Excellent breakfast and restaurant. Great roof terrace with pool and super friendly staff.
The hotel is very well located in the old city, the room was confortable and clean. The breakfast was very good, with a lot of choices. The receptionist was kind and helpful.
Nice swimming pool on the rooftop.
very nice location in the middle of getsemani. you can reach the old city, a lot of restaurants and bars, the haven and other common places by walking very easily. Also the staff of the hotel was very nice.
Very centrally located small hotel in the center of Cartagena. All sights and bars/restaurants in the old city within easy walking distance. Comfortable and clean room. Very friendly staff.
The breakfast is in a beautiful restaurant around the corner. Excellent choice. The location of the hotel is just 100 meters from the Plaza de los Coches. You are close of everywhere!
