The staffs are very friendly and helpful. They speak English very well, and always provide a thorough information when needed. The place is so lovely and comfortable (and well-designed), and the breakfast OH MY GOD is very tasty and fulfilling (note that there is an extra charge for breakfast, and it's totally worth it). Be informed that during winter there is an extra charge of JPY 150 per day for heating and this is NOT a complaint. It is reasonable and understandable.

We stayed for one night at Hotel Izumi. The hotel’s staffs are friendly, helpful, accommodating guests very well. We had shift up the pick up time and they are willing to serve us. Recommend to book with the seafood dinner set. They served high quality foods, which all of them are fresh and so tasty. The yuzu wine is really great as well. We loved it so much we could say it is the best Japanese dinner set I have ever had! It is very impressive.

We enjoyed the authentic onsen on site. There was a washer and dryer for our use. It was in a quiet little neighborhood which was easy to find. We loved the country feeling and yet was close to places of interest. We enjoy sharing our experience there with family and friends and would definitely go there again.

It seems that other than Upopoy, there really aren't that many to see, so I can imagine travelers doing a day trip before returning to Sapporo or NIseko, but there are some really nice restaurants, cafes, and bars in town which I think is worth checking and exploring if you are staying overnight.

There is nothing much to do - visited Hell Valley - kind of interesting but after the first 15 minutes everything looks the same. The sulfur in the air makes the hike unpleasant. Would rather go hike somewhere else.
Went to Cape Chiyu - a nice view of the sea and a lighthouse. Again - everything is nice for the first 15 minutes but it is a long drive.
Would I do this again? Nah! I have better options
