We had a small misunderstanding with the owner, but it was resolved in a satisfactory way. Motohakone is gorgeous with the lake and mountains, but it was a bit sleepy town in a May when we were visiting. We saw a lot of closed restaurants, not sure whether it was a seasonal thing or more general phenomenon.

The house was great and had some quirky styling. The couple next door (who I presume own it) helped us get in and were very kind. Beds were comfortable and kitchen was fit with appliances and utensils

We loved the assortment of food. The room was comfortable and clean, with a view of Mt Fuji. The onsen was very nice to relax in. The staff were friendly.

The room was very spacious throughout our trip, and the dinner and breakfast were great. The onsen facilities, with a tolerable temperature, were also excellent. The staff was very welcoming, and the hotel even drove us to the station when we checked out, which was a great help. I will book again if I decide to stay at Hakone for the night in my next trip in the future.

The ambience for the living room is cozy especially the firepit. The staff are very friendly and helpful, even though the conversational in English are limited. The food (breakfast and dinner) is felt like home cook. Toilets amenity are fully equip (hair dryer, free shampoo body wash, even they have samples for hair and skin care). Walkable to the hakone shirne and tori gate, if you wake up very early in the morning, you can enjoy lake ashi with local fishermen. Overall, will rebook the place because the location is very strategic if you're planning to go to hakone tori gate with no que.

Absolutely incredible staff from the moment of arrival to the moment of departure. In particular, Yuuta was so helpful, attentive, and downright elegant. An EXCEPTIONAL breakfast and dinner were included with our room, prepared as Japanese interpretation of multi-course French cuisine. The view from the dining area was stunning. Absolutely wonderful. I believe all rooms include a private outdoor onsen (hot spring bath) where you can soak for hours while enjoying nature.
