The hotel is well-located, near most of the tourist traps, such as Matsuyama castle, Okaido. It's also very convenient to reach the tram station and the high speed bus stop, which could take you to dogo onsen and kochi. Breakfast is decent with lots of variety.

Great Location, Very Affordable, Good Room, Great Staff
If coming from the port, it is a little far away but the hotel is near a station, outside of that the hotel is in a great location for sightseeing. A good walk to Matsuyama Castle and other sightseeing spots but also right next to Dogo Onsen
The room was a bit small but still it had the necessary things needed and is still good value for your money.
Staff was very professional and helpful, despite the language barrier.
I would recommend staying here and I would definitely stay here again

A great option for a solo traveller if you get a better deal from Booking on this accommodation. The prices can vary a lot, so that's also a reason why I didn't extend my stay. I love the shared baths – 2 baths in the female section and the water of the onsen one was just 36 degrees, which makes it bearable to stay for a longer period. Also, the room was huge enough to comfortably fit and open my luggage while still having some space for a morning stretch.
Reopened from August 2017, Hotel Katsuyama boasts air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi throughout the property. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. Private parking is available on site.

Really enjoyed Matsuyama and was sad to leave.
Really enjoyed Matsuyama and was sad to leave. The castle (with its chair lift up to it) was great. There are lots of options for shopping, eating and drinking and the whole area around Dogo Onsen is very nice.

Where there isn’t the sea, the city is surrounded by mountains. With the hill that has the castle on top, it creates a nice atmosphere. The onsen town (Dogo onsen) is where I mostly stayed. It was fun to see people walking around in the street in their yukata.
Like in many Japanese cities, the tram is cute and all, but it’s very inefficient. Moreover, you can only pay with cash or their local IC card. You cannot use standard IC cards like Pasmo, Suica, etc.
We ate at our wonderful hotel (Kowakuen) so I cannot speak about the restaurants.

Beautiful city full of amazing places to visit.
Beautiful city full of amazing places to visit. The must visits are of course the mountain top castle named Matsuyama Castle and also so many others like the Okaido shopping street and the Bansuino old French-style house. There are also delicious foods to try such as the Taimeshi which was delicious as well as the amazingly delicious oranges (mikaan) around the city. There are so many shops selling mikaan and mikaan juice that if you like fruits, you will love this city.

Matsuyama, in the winter at least, is pretty boring.
Matsuyama, in the winter at least, is pretty boring. The big onsen that they go on about is a tourist trap so I would not waste your time. I was told Spring and Fall were the best times to go as the Summer is hot and humid. The people seem OK but don’t really want to be bothered by foreigners.

I visited Matsuyama as part of the 88 temple Henro pilgrimage and so took in several temples, shrines and the Matsuyama Castle which is the most impressive castle I have visited in Japan thus far. The hot springs are also excellent and plenty of nightlife options.
The room was spacious for a Japanese hotel. The bathroom was great. Separate toilet and separate vanity as well as separate shower with bath and lockable door stood out for me.
Complimentary bottled water was a nice touch.
The hotel itself seems rather new and the room was spotless.
Wi-if didn’t require a password which made things easy.
Great location. Could easily walk to the rope way station. Lawson convenience store a few doors down as well as restaurants all within easy walking distance. Public transport right in front.
The hotel is perfectly located in Dogo Onsen with private access via elevator to the main shopping district. Everything looks brand new throughout the hotel and my room offered a balcony with spectacular views of Matsuyama with its Castle and the mountain range in the distance. The onsen on the top floor is very nice with an open-air bath and might be the best in the area. The staff was kind and helpful and the breakfast was just delicious. I also enjoyed the live piano evenings at the lobby.
Good hospitality, good breakfast, good services(free ice cream, free probiotic drink, and free midnight snack) clean room and clean public hot spring. Everything was super clean, building itself was build recently. It is inside of okaido's shopping street, you can ride the Limousin bus to the airport near here. Contemporary style but you can also enjoy Japanese style hot spring and food here.
The Comfort Hotel Matsuyama is well located being close to Matsuyama Castle and well served by public transport. The room and bathroom were both clean and the bed was comfortable. We found the staff to be pleasant and helpful when we asked for additional pillows. The complimentary buffet breakfast was tasty with plenty of options. We thought the hotel was good value for money.
everything! the value for the money is really good. We felt this hotel was more than 3 stars. felt really premium. bed was super comfortable. I needed another pillow and staff showed me 3 different options. Breakfast was super good and felt like they had a lot of options and freshly made food such as homemade tofu. One of the best hotels we stayed in Japan.
The location was walking distance to the Dougo Onsen area with its numerous shopping arcades and restaurants. The room was spacious and clean. The public baths were amazing. The breakfast spread (you can choose between Japanese or Western) was bountiful and delicious.
The hotel is well-located, near most of the tourist traps, such as Matsuyama castle, Okaido. It's also very convenient to reach the tram station and the high speed bus stop, which could take you to dogo onsen and kochi. Breakfast is decent with lots of variety.
Best value in Matsuyama.
This bunk house is right next to Dogo Onsen. It's a perfect, cheap stop along the pilgrimage route.
I spent 3 days here while my legs recovered. It's less than 3 minutes to a bus and train area to take you all over the area.
I booked a smoking room but all through the night the person in the other room was smoking. The whole room stunk of smoke all night. When I told the staff in fluent Japanese they were rude talking back in a loud voice and interrupting me all the time.
Business hotel, central location. Rooms are small, same as the bathrooms, but clean and with everything what a traveler needs. Our nonsmoking room was quiet and the AC was efficient. Breakfast was buffet style with Japanese food, lot of choice.
The room was nice and large, by Japan standards. The location was great. Loved being so close to Dogo Onsen. Staff was excellent. Would stay there again in a heartbeat...💓 Thanks for making my stay awesome!
The hotel was very clean, very comfortable and gave us a real taste of traditional Japanese hotels. We loved visiting the onsen and using the free foot massagers with the free sake and snacks!
Staff was really kind and hospitality was awesome.
Also breakfast was tasty. I love Dashimaki tamago the best!
no-ceiling bath was one of the point to choose this hotel.
Orange juice from the tap!
Plenty of amenities available should one wish to go to one of the onsen nearby. The hotel also has free yukata and towel rental
Great value for a family of four. Breakfast was standard and enjoyable. Hotel was clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful, even with limited english.
